Ozone Therapy

Ozone Therapy

In nature, oxygen predominantly exists as 2 oxygen molecules bound together and is often called O2.  When O2 is exposed to an electrical current (like a lightning strike), however, this breaks the bond between the two oxygen molecules and when the oxygen species bump to one another, most of them with reform O2, but a small percent will come together as 3 oxygen molecules which is called OZONE or O3.  If you have ever smelled the chlorine bleach odor that occurs during a lightning storm, you are actually smelling the ozone that was created with the electrical current.  Ozone has been utilized in medicine since the 1800s, originally because of its antibacterial properties.  Since that time, ozone therapy has been utilized in a wide array of medical applications and has been shown to be quite reactive in cellular membranes. Ozone has been administered in multiple forms including intravenously, by inhalation and by local injection.  Ozone has been shown in clinical trials to activate immune cells, kill bacteria and viruses, and reduces markers of cellular inflammation.  Balanced Vitality has a comprehensive Ozone Therapy program with treatments individualized to meet the needs of a wide array of patients.
